Preparing for each session
Food & water
Do not eat large meals before your massage or at least have 1 hour minimum to digest after a meal so that your body can be at it´s most relaxed state (not in digestion) during your session.
Drink enough water to remain hydrated but not too much that you will need to hold yourself or go to the toilet in the middle of a session (although this is fine) it is again breaking the cycle of deep relaxation .
Breathing
There are techniques that will help you to get into the most deep state of relaxation , such as
Belly Breathing (Diaphragmatic) : Best for deep relaxation and stress relief ; how to do it:
Inhale deeply through the nose, expand the belly (not the chest)
Hold for a moment , exhale slowly through the mouth
Repeat until you feel a state of calm serenity / fall asleep ( also please allow yourself this)
It is ok to fall asleep during your session, sometimes this is also part of the process which your body needs, do not deny nature and allow yourself to listen to your body.
Do not hold your breath please
4-7-8 breathing : Best for releasing tension and calming the nervous system ; how to do it:
Inhale through the nose 4 seconds
hold your breath for 7 seconds
exhale slowly through the mouth for 8 seconds
Repeat 4/5 times to calm the body & mind
There is also Box breathing / Extended exhale breathing/ Sighing
Deep slow breathing enhances circulation, relieves muscle tension and promotes a deeper sense of relaxation, think of your yoga breath!
Communication
It is ok to talk to me during your session but it is best to keep it to a minimal unless you want to give feedback such as less pressure or more pressure or can you focus a little more there, although I always ask this before we begin. Before we begin each session we have a brief chat about what you are currently feeling & what areas you feel are more important to focus on right now. I will explain also what to expect, different levels of pressure, trigger point release and the healing of the tuning fork. Sometimes you may experience some shock like spasm from the work performed on the feet as they are connected to all organs as well as the brain. There will not be any part of your session that will cause you discomfort, but there will be some moments when you feel more pressure, my advise is to take a deep breath and allow me to work the deeper levels of your muscle fibres and tissues so that I can make every session worth your time and mine.
While laying on your back I provide eye cover so you can remain relaxed, covered and warm.
Clothing
Clothing is optional ,as if was at the sauna , you may keep your bathing suit (bottom underwear) if you feel more comfortable but it is not required. You will be covered at all times under a few layers of blankets with a warm blanket underneath you to ensure you are never cold and always covered , keeping your privacy and comfort in mind at all times, from the moment you enter to the moment you leave.
Afterwards
I always follow-up with my clients to offer advice , give my own feedback from any findings and some herbal advice such as tea that would help detox / flush your system even more afterwards.
Also I recommend to get more frequent massages for most people unless it is a very specific case, in general you should be getting a massage at least 2 times per month and that is why I also give better offers to clients who do follow this general advice, it is better for your body & mind and also better for me and my hands, if you do not wait for months again until your next visit.
Package deals can be found in my treatment prices page, where you will see it is most beneficial to purchase a package and continue your follow-up as per advised by me once I have gotten to know your body & mind.
